Letter from Jefferson-Lewis BOCES Superintendent, Chris DiFulvio, regarding the search for the South Jefferson Central School District Superintendent Search:

May 22, 2026 

Dear Families, Staff Members, and Community Members of the South Jefferson Central School District: 

I am writing to you on behalf of the South Jefferson Central School District Board of Education. My name is Chris DiFulvio, and as District Superintendent of Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, I have been asked to assist the Board of Education in its search for the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. 

The selection of a superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of a Board of Education. The superintendent serves as the chief educational leader of the district and works closely with the Board, students, staff, families, and community to support the mission, priorities, and future direction of the school district. 

South Jefferson Central School District is a strong and proud school community with a long-standing commitment to students, families, staff, and the broader community. As the Board begins this important process, it would like to share information regarding the next steps in the superintendent search. 

Informational Session 

At the June 3, 2026 Board of Education meeting, I will provide a public presentation to the Board regarding the superintendent search process and the options available as the Board moves forward. Following the presentation, the Board will invite public comment consistent with its policy. 

Please know that while the Board of Education values input from the community, personnel laws and regulations prevent public discussion or comment regarding specific individuals or personnel matters. 

Following the presentation and public comment, the Board of Education will work with the search consultant to determine the framework for the superintendent search process. 

Next Steps 

At the June 3, 2026 regular board meeting, the Board hopes to appoint an interim superintendent, with a projected start date of August 1, 2026, to oversee day-to-day operations while the superintendent search is conducted. 

I look forward to working with the South Jefferson Central School District Board of Education and community throughout this important process.
