Employment Application Forms

Persons interested in submitting an application for employment with the South Jefferson Central School District should use one of the applications listed below. Instructions for completing and submitting each application are on the cover page.

    • Applicant must have at least 60 college credits from an accredited college or university.
    • Applicant must complete an application and submit three (3) letters of reference (at least one from a previous employer and no family members).
    • Applicants must be fingerprinted through the New York State Education Department.

    When the above are submitted to the District Office, you will be contacted by phone with detailed information. Once approved by the administration, the candidate's name is presented to the Board of Education for final approval. Once that is completed, the applicants will attend a substitute training session (see dates below) and the name goes on the daily "to call" list.

Substitute Service 

  • Dial (315) 232-2915. Provide your name, building, what you teach, 1/2 day, full day, and why you are out.  If you give enough time, you can also request a specific sub. The person you will be speaking with or leaving a message for is Tanya Carpenter.

If it is after 7 am, or if you have already started your school day, you must contact your school's main office.

  • South Jefferson Central School District has a vacancy for a full-time, tenure-track Secondary Special Education (Resource Room) Teacher effective August 28, 2024.  NYS certification is required.   • The South Jefferson Central School district has vacancies for the following substitute support staff positions:

  • The South Jefferson Central School District has immediate openings for bus drivers and substitute bus drivers. Paid training will be provided, must be 21 years old.  This is great part-time work with excellent benefits for those who like to work with children.  Opportunities to join and contribute to the state retirement system.

  • Substitute school nurses are needed at the South Jefferson Central School District. CPR/first aid certification required; RN or LPN NYS license required.

  • Anticipated High School Principal Vacancy

    Examples of Work

    ·      Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing visitors to the building

    ·      Be able to calmly and respectfully deal with students, staff and community members at all times

    ·      Issue visitor tags to approved guests; provide prompt notification to staff of visitors  arrival

    ·      Coordinate  large group accommodations

    ·      Provide adequate supervision of high school students in hallways and during lunch periods

    ·      Fill in as needed to answer phones, assist office staff, monitor   classrooms, supervise cafeteria, etc.

    ·      Substitute as Attendance Clerk when necessary

    ·      Effectively communicate to school staff and administration

    ·      Maintain accurate attendance record of students' arrival/departure to and from the  building

    ·      Attend appropriate training relating to students, staff and building safety maintenance

    ·      Acquire knowledge of building safety protocols; contribute to building safety team and attend all safety drills and related meetings

    ·      Work with school administrators  as needed to assess safety concerns and communicate visitor trends

    Examples of Work

           Perform the physical installation of technology related equipment such as emergency notification systems, security camera systems, access control, interactive displays, projectors, sound systems, and network infrastructure in all district campus locations interior and exterior.

           Perform the physical Installation of audio, video, and data cabling related to technology systems in all district campus locations interior and exterior.

           Install and troubleshoot network and electrical connections associated with technology related equipment and systems in all district campus locations interior and exterior.

           Organize and manage switch closet cabling. Accurately label cables on both sides of the connections in all district campus locations interior and exterior.

           Assists in repairs IT equipment with supervision from higher technicians.

           Assists in tasks related to the annual recycling of excessed computer equipment.

           Responds to assigned support tickets and maintains a record of tasks performed.

           Ability to understand and follow technical oral and written directions.

           Ability to establish good working relationships with others.

           Attention to detail and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
