South Jefferson’s Emma Vespa commits to play Division II Lacrosse at Slippery Rock University

South Jefferson senior Emma Vespa has committed to play Division II lacrosse at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where she plans to major in civil engineering. Vespa signed her National Letter of Intent on Nov. 19 surrounded by family, friends, coaches, teammates and South Jefferson Central School District staff.
A standout student-athlete, Vespa is a two-sport competitor and an active member of the National Honor Society. She also participates in several clubs and service organizations that support both the district and the community.
Vespa’s varsity lacrosse coach, Jen Williams, praised her dedication both on and off the field. “Emma’s unwavering commitment, effort and resilience in mastering the goalie position are a true testament to her success and the recognition we celebrate today,” she said. “We look forward to another great season with our senior leader in net as we aim to make another historic run.”
Vespa said choosing Slippery Rock felt like the perfect next step. “There is no other place I would rather spend the next four years of my life playing the sport I love with my entire soul,” she said, before explaining how bittersweet the transition will be. “I am also sad to leave a place I’ve called home for 17 years of my life, but I’m excited to see where the wind will take me.”
South Jefferson CSD congratulates Emma on her achievement and looks forward to cheering her on throughout her senior season and beyond.
