RE: Appointment of Superintendent of Schools
After a process including interviews with the Board and a representative stakeholder group, we are pleased to announce that the Board of Education has selected Scott Slater as the next Superintendent of the South Jefferson Central School District, pending a formal appointment by the board at a meeting on Thursday, 05/02 at 7:00 a.m. The appointment will be effective in August 2019.
Mr. Slater has served the South Jefferson Central School District as Assistant Superintendent since 2014. Prior to that, he worked for Jefferson Lewis BOCES as Coordinator of School Improvement Services providing support to a region covering four BOCES and served as a liaison with the New York State Education Department. Mr. Slater has also served as a supervisor for Jefferson Lewis BOCES and taught special education for 10 years.
Following his graduation from Watertown High School, Mr. Slater graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a BA in Communication, SUNY Potsdam with a MS in Elementary Education and earned his Certificate of Advanced Study in school administration from SUNY Oswego.
The Board is confident that Mr. Slater will continue to do an excellent job serving the students, staff, and families of the South Jefferson Central School District.
