Self-esteem project

Self-esteem/Identity Project

You will be creating a Personal Identity Project. This project will allow you to search out and discover who you are as a person and what type of person you want to be. When you are finished, you will have uncovered your individual, uniqueness by creating a 3-D portrait of yourself.

There are 9 activities in the project. 8 of the activities are worth 10 points each, and the Dream Board is worth 20 points, to total 100 points for the project.

All items are to be completed and ready to present Monday February 5.

Activities to be done:

1. Complete the Positive Affirmation worksheet.

2. Create an Acrostic poem that describes you.

3. Create a 5 lined poem called a Cinquain.

4. Create self-esteem hands

5. Find 4 objects that represent who you are as a person today. I want you to represent different aspects of who you are. Think about the Identity Assignment that we did when you identified your physical, active, social and psychological identity. For example, don’t just give me 4 sports you like or do. Find objects that represent your interests, social identity and your personality characteristics; for example; loving, hardworking, outgoing, funny, energetic, creative, fun, etc.

6. Find 4 objects that represent who you want to be and aspire to be in 5-10 years. Again, represent various aspects of that person you want to be. For example; college, career, values, interests, family, physical traits and personality characteristics.

*You must write on a piece of paper a list of the 8 objects you chose to represent you AND the description of how each object represents you. You will present these objects & descriptions to the class. For example; I put this energizer batter in to represent I have a lot of energy.

7. Include a well written descriptive paragraph, consisting of at least 10 sentences each, for 2 of the following topics. Although all of these areas may have something negative associated with them, focus on the positive aspects and characteristics of the topics you choose. This helps you learn to look at the glass as half full instead of half empty. Be an Optimist!

*my family                       *my best friend                          *my school
*my best memory            *my favorite activity/hobby        *an accomplishment
*my favorite vacation       *my pet(s)                                 *my favorite place

8. Write a well written, descriptive paragraph, of at least 20 sentences, on 1 of the following topics.

*A person I greatly admire and why

*My vision of a better world would be

*My vision of a healthier and happier “me” would be

                        *Your favorite teacher and why

9. Create a Dream Board. This is a picture and word collage about you and who you have discovered you are and what you want your future to be. You will use all the interesting, unique and wonderful facets you have learned and uncovered about yourself as you have completed these other activities. You may creatively include any of the above 8 items on it.
