PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

I hope that everyone has been enjoying summer vacation.  Even though September is still a ways off, we wanted to provide you with some useful information for you and your children in this summer’s edition of Middle Matters.

We will have our last orientation for our new 6^th graders on Aug. 25.  This will be the last opportunity to familiarize students and parents with the Middle School, schedules, and needs.  Please plan to attend.  Our Middle School Open House will be Thursday, September 11 from 6-8 pm.

There has been very little movement with staff at the Middle School.  Mrs. Kathy Sabel has been hired to take Emily Chrisman’s maternity leave in her English AIS classes.  Mrs. Chrisman just gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Jack.  Mr. James Juczak has been granted a year leave of absence, and will be replaced by Aarik Langevin.  Aarik is a recent graduate of Oswego State and is no stranger to South Jeff, as he completed his student teaching in our district.

We are also sad to report that our school counselor Mrs. Becky Tiffany has taken a similar position in her hometown school of Lowville.  She will be with us until the end of July.  As many of you know, Mrs. Tiffany has helped countless number of students over the past 10 years here at South Jefferson.  She will be greatly missed by our students and staff, but we do wish her the best of luck in her new position at Lowville Academy.

We hope everyone has an enjoyable summer.  As Labor Day approaches, if you have any questions regarding your 6^th, 7^th or 8^th grade students, please don’t hesitate to call at 232-4531.
